It was said that when the load shedding will take place which area will be decided in advance. But as the allocation was less than the demand, the schedule was disrupted. Customers are making PDB officials uncomfortable by calling. PDB officials are also unable to give a satisfactory reply.

What does Authority Explain?

When asked, Chief Engineer of PDB Chittagong Zone Rezaul Karim said that the schedule of load shedding cannot be kept as the allocation is not correct. It is not possible to say how many megawatts will be allocated daily. Therefore, I cannot calculate when and where the load shedding will take place.

It may take another month to complete the repair work, said the concerned.

Meanwhile, production in two gas-fired units of 225 and 150 MW in the Shikalbaha area has stopped. The chief engineer of the power plant, Jasim Uddin Bhuiya, said that 225 megawatts of furnace oil can be used to produce electricity. 

But two units are off production for repair work. It may take another month to complete the repair work. Out of the five units of the Kaptai hydropower plant, three units are operational. 130 MW of electricity is being generated here. Two units are closed due to mechanical problems. This is actually the schedule disruption of electricity.
